2011 Pokemon Video Game Championship Schedule Announced

Gamers get ready for the 2011 Pokemon Video Game Championship Series at local venues

First Pokemon Black and Pokemon White hit the Nintendo DS and now the latest annual edition of the Video Game Champiionshops are announced. Starting on May 14th in the United States and Europre on June 4th, gamers will get a chance to battle head-to-head with other trainers with a spot in the World Championship on the line. The 2011 Pokémon World Championships will be held August 12-14 in San Diego, CA.

The following information has been pulled from the official announcement …

At each location, outlined below, the top 16 players from each division earn invitations to compete at the 2011 Pokémon U.S. National Championships July 8-10 in Indianapolis, IN. Players who do not advance through the regional competitions can battle in the Last Chance Qualifier held July 8th in Indianapolis before the start of the U.S. National Championships. The Last Chance Qualifier will send 16 additional players from each division into the U.S. National Championships for a chance at securing a top eight finish and a guaranteed competitor slot at the 2011 Pokémon World Championships.

The 2011 European Pokémon Video Game Championship series kicks off June 4th in Birmingham, England, and travels to four other cities across the continent, including a new stop in Rome, Italy. The top eight finishers in each division from the five European series locations will earn guaranteed competitor slots at the 2011 Pokémon World Championships. In addition to invitations to the World Championships in San Diego, top finishers in the U.S. and Europe will receive special trophies and Pokémon prizes.

Players competing in the United States will need to play with the North American English version of the Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS family of systems. Players competing in Europe will need to play the European versions of the Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version video games. The Pokémon Video Game Championship series now features three age divisions instead of two: Junior (age 10 and younger), Senior (age 11 to 14), and Masters (age 15 and older).

  • May 14, Seattle, WA-Washington State Convention Center, Hall 4B 
  • May 21, San Jose, CA-San Jose Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 2 
  • May 28, Dallas, TX-Arlington Convention Center, Grand Hall 
  • June 4, Atlanta, GA-Gwinnett Center, Hall A and B 
  • June 11, Washington, D.C.-Dulles Expo Center, South Hall 
  • June 18, Newark, NJ-Meadowlands Exposition Center
At all U.S. Regional locations, Junior and Senior Division lines open at 8:00 A.M. and close at 8:30 A.M. The Masters Division line opens at 1:00 P.M. and closes at 1:30 P.M.
