The new term has started, which marks the nearing end of my first year. We have been given our last 3 briefs of the year which seem really fun and Im really looking forward to them. I have one group project where we have to create an animation only using the word "What" in the script. We can use this word five times. Its very open which is really good 'cause we can pretty much interpret it as we want. We have to work in groups for it, so I am working with my two friends Em and Sash who have a similar animation taste and style to me. We have a good idea going at the moment, which we will hopefully be able to create using traditional 2D drawing methods as well as using after effects.
We have a been given a drawing project which involves drawing every day for at least an hour in our sketch books, but by a certain set of rules. Each week we will meet up in groups and make up our own set of drawing rules for the week. This week I am going to draw a map of campus or Falmouth with a grid mapping system over the top of the drawn map. I will then ask a friend every day to give me one or two random grid references which I will then walk to. I will then draw whatever is at that reference. I really like this brief as it changes every week and I have an excuse to go out side and have an adventure in the sun!
The last brief we have been given is to create a fairly rough pre-production bible, full of character development sketches, storyboards, a basic idea for a script and concept drawings. We have to base it around gangster animals (Derek described it as Wind in the Willows meets Lock Stock) I have an idea involving quintessentially English animals such as peacocks and pheasants, ducks and geese, moles badgers and the like, but make them into ghetto gangs. Kind of like an British version of the Bloods and the Crips.
I will scan in pictures as soon as I have cracked on with them all!
Good Morrow!
